Job summary

Afinitas is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, develop and maintain control system programs for our Equipment and Automation machinery. This role requires frequent interaction with customers and service technicians to ensure reliable operations.

The position involves on-site visits to customer facilities, remote troubleshooting of hydraulic and electrical control systems, and collaboration with engineering teams to improve product performance and documentation.

Qualifications

• 4-year engineering degree or 2-year technical degree in a related field.
• 2+ years of PLC experience in manufacturing.
• Proficient in electrical systems including motors, AC drives and control circuits.
• Experience with Eplan, AutoCAD or similar software.
• Understanding of electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Understanding of ladder logic programming.
• Experience in automation control systems design and coding of PLCs.
• Strong collaboration across departments; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement control systems for new equipment and upgrades.
• Troubleshoot and debug software to improve performance and quality of operations.
• Assist customers and technicians with remote and on-site control system support.
• Create and maintain technical documents, procedures, and a knowledge base.
• Log development processes, code changes and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve technical/logistical issues.
• Participate in setup and commissioning of new facilities or upgrades.
• Provide system operation manuals and diagnostic aids.
• Stay current with advancements in control system architectures.
