Job summary

Automationtechies in Illinois seeks a proficient Controls Engineer to lead control system projects from inception to completion. You will design, build, commission, and deliver fully functional systems, program PLCs and HMI/SCADA, and collaborate with customers on requirements.

Candidates should have strong communication, ability to write specs, and enjoy solving complex debugging tasks. Relational databases and programming experience are a plus; travel to customer sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in control systems engineering.
• Proficiency in PLC programming and HMI/SCADA programming.
• Strong written communication and documentation skills.
• Experience with relational databases and programming is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers to understand project requirements.
• Contribute to project quotations with technical insights.
• Design, build, commission, and deliver control systems.
• Program PLCs and develop HMI/SCADA using major platforms.
• Write technical specs, design guides, and user manuals.
• Execute in-house system building and programming.
• Simulate, test, and debug systems in-house prior to deployment.
• Conduct system installations and startups at customer sites.
• Offer technical support for systems via phone or on-site.
• Maintain project schedules and ensure timely completion.
• Assume additional duties as required.
