Job summary

IPG is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to lead PLC programming, automation projects, and electrical troubleshooting at the Blythewood, SC site. You will optimize safety, reliability, and performance of manufacturing processes, supporting maintenance and operations with hands-on expertise in Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms, VFDs, HMIs, and networked control systems.

You will develop backups, diagrams, and documentation, while collaborating with operators, contractors, and vendors to drive

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
3+ years in controls, automation, or electrical engineering in manufacturing.
Experience programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs.
Experience with VFDs, servo drives, motor starters, relays, and industrial control equipment.

Responsibilities

Owns PLCs, HMIs, networks, and automation systems; provide technical leadership.
Troubleshoot and optimize PLC programs for safe, reliable plant operations.
Lead automation projects from concept to implementation with impact on uptime.
Develop PLC backups, drawings, narratives, and network documentation.
Support maintenance teams with controls expertise and training.
