Job summary

Lear Corporation is seeking a qualified Controls Engineer for the 7pm-4am shift in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. You will develop and implement software and hardware changes to reduce downtime and boost system efficiency within a complex assembly plant environment.

The role requires PLC programming expertise (Rockwell), HMI development, and experience with automation equipment including Fanuc/ABB robots and vision systems. Collaboration across departments and with contractors is essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.E.) required; 3+ years related experience or training, or equivalent combination.
Experience with PLCs required: ControlLogix, MicroLogix, CompactLogix (Rockwell software); ladder logic understanding and programming changes; Siemens programming a plus.
Experience programming HMIs (PanelView, etc.).
Experience with automation equipment (Fanuc/ABB Robots and Vision Systems).
Experience with electric torque control equipment (Atlas Copco/Stanley).

Responsibilities

Developing and implementing software and hardware changes to improve efficiency and quality.
Troubleshooting and programming PLCs to resolve problems, improve efficiency and quality.
Coordinate with outside contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure optimal production line performance.
Maintain accurate records of parts, parameters, and changes; requisition tools, equipment, and supplies.
Set up and maintain adequate parts and supplies to minimize downtime.
Maintain records of machines/assets related to repair, drawings, diagrams and manuals and preventive maintenance.
Assist in launch programs and ensure proper housekeeping per ISO 14001 & IATF16949 processes.
