Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries in Shelton, Washington is seeking a Controls Engineer to program and tune motion axes, debug PLCs and HMIs, and design control systems for high‑performance machinery.

You will plan equipment installations, supervise installation and optimization, and manage multiple projects while training maintenance staff. Some overnight travel to California and Washington is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience with motion controllers, PLCs, servo systems, and HMIs.
• Preference for experience with Control Logix and Kinetix.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Strong communication and mathematical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Program and tune multiple axis of motion control.
• Program and debug PLCs and HMIs.
• Design control systems for high-performance machinery.
• Plan and coordinate new equipment installations.
• Supervise installation and optimization of machinery.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Modify existing PLC programs in collaboration with mill personnel.
• Manage multiple projects across a large scope of work.
