Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries seeks a qualified Controls Technician to join our fabrication shop in Shelton, Washington. You will program and tune motion control axes, program and debug PLCs and HMIs, and assist with designing control systems for high-performance machinery.

You will manage multiple projects, train maintenance staff, and provide cross-division support, with some overnight travel to divisions in California, Oregon, and Washington.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ related experience or educational equivalent.
• Strong working knowledge of motion controllers, PLCs, servo systems, HMIs.
• Experience with servo and hydraulic motion control and tuning preferred.
• Experience with Allen Bradley Control Logix and Kinetix systems preferred.
• Ability to manage time and priorities under demanding circumstances.
• Excellent communication, listening, and reasoning skills.
• AutoCAD proficiency a plus.
• Strong math skills.

Responsibilities

• Program and tune multiple axis of motion control
• Program and debug PLCs and HMIs
• Assist with the design control systems used in high-performance machinery
• Identify and implement process improvements
• Administer modifications of existing PLC programs in conjunction with mill personnel
• Efficiently manage multiple projects and processes across a large scope of work
• Train personnel and maintenance and operation of equipment
• Provide support for division technicians for troubleshooting
• Some overnight travel to divisions within California, Oregon, and Washington
