Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Controls Engineer for a medical device company in Jacksonville, FL. The role focuses on PLC, HMI, motion, and system integration to ensure stable, compliant production systems in a regulated environment.

You will support high-volume manufacturing equipment and mentor technicians. The ideal candidate has 4+ years in industrial automation, experience with major PLC brands, and strong troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience in industrial automation and controls engineering.
• Advanced proficiency with Siemens, CTI/APT, Mitsubishi, AutomationDirect, or Allen-Bradley ControlLogix / CompactLogix.
• Experience with HMI platforms such as FactoryTalk View ME/SE, Wonderware, ArchestrA.
• Strong knowledge of motion control, VFDs, safety systems, and EtherNet/IP.
• Proven troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing equipment.
• Working knowledge of FDA/GMP or other regulated manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and support PLC programs (Siemens, CTI/APT, Mitsubishi, Automation Direct, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix / CompactLogix).
• Maintain and enhance HMI applications (Wonderware, ArchestrA, FactoryTalk View or equivalent).
• Lead troubleshooting of automation, motion, and sequencing issues.
• Resolve downtime and performance issues using structured root cause analysis.
• Support motion systems, servo drives, vision systems, and peripheral equipment.
• Lead controls-related upgrades, retrofits, and platform enhancements.
• Support FAT/SAT, commissioning, and equipment startups.
• Implement changes through formal change control and validation processes.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, GMP, and internal validation requirements.
• Maintain technical documentation and validation records.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams.
• Provide technical guidance to technicians and junior engineers.
