Job summary

ABB in Portland, TN is seeking a manufacturing engineer to optimize the Production organization’s assembly methods, processes, and equipment for high-volume production. The role is onsite and reports to Engineering Manager II, with responsibilities to design, program, and support automated systems and equipment.

The candidate will work with maintenance, engineering, and operations to improve quality, efficiency, and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
• 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.
• Proficiency in automated technologies (PLC’s, HMI’s, VFD’s, SCADA and Robotics). PLC logic troubleshooting, Allen Bradley experience preferred.
• Experience in 2D/3D CAD, Inventor and/or Solidworks preferred
• Trained in electricity, hydraulics, fabrication, plastics and electronic controls
• PC experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word
• Must have adequate interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, and demonstrate a working relationship with both internal & external customers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and install modern innovative manufacturing equipment to facilitate high volume production of a variety of products.
• Provide programming, debug and testing controls support with automated systems, and implement updates and/or optimize existing equipment.
• Provide high level technical support to the maintenance department.
• Interface with other departments concerning equipment improvements, and facilitate internal training programs.
• Document programs and publish reports on internal projects.
