Job summary

ABB is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Portland, TN to optimize assembly methods and equipment for high-volume production, focusing on quality, efficiency, costs, and safety. Onsite work at the Portland facility is required.

The role reports to Engineering Manager II and requires a bachelor's in engineering and 3+ years in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with PLCs, HMI, VFD, SCADA, and robotics is expected, along with CAD experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering needed.
  • 3+ years in a manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Proficiency in automated technologies (PLC, HMI, VFD, SCADA, robotics).
  • Experience in 2D/3D CAD; Inventor/SolidWorks preferred.
  • Electrical, hydraulic, fabrication, plastics and electronic control training.
  • Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and install manufacturing equipment for high-volume production.
  • Provide programming, debugging and testing controls for automated systems; implement updates.
  • Provide high-level technical support to the maintenance department.
  • Interface with other departments on equipment improvements and training.
  • Document programs and publish reports on internal projects.
