Job summary

Allegion in Blue Ash, OH, is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, develop, and implement manufacturing automation for steel door and frame production. You will manage plant-wide automation projects, upgrade legacy relay logic, and optimize Salvagnini systems and Fanuc robots to drive safety and efficiency.

The role requires a 4-year engineering degree, 3–5 years of automation experience in heavy industrial settings, and hands-on skills with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Red Lion controllers,

Qualifications

  • 4-year Engineering degree in Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering (Preferred).
  • 3–5 years of automated manufacturing experience in industrial automation.
  • Proficient with Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Red Lion controllers.
  • Hands-on experience with Fanuc robotic systems and Salvagnini automation.
  • Solid understanding of troubleshooting and migrating legacy relay logic.
  • HMI interfaces design and servo/VFDs experience.
  • Strong knowledge of safety system implementation (Light Curtains, Scanners, Interlocks, E-stops).
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and test equipment like multimeters, calibrators, and oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, integrate, test, and implement process control solutions for machinery and conveying.
  • Manage automation projects from concept to completion, defining scopes, budgets, and timelines.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize multi-axis Fanuc industrial robots and robotic end-of-arm tooling.
  • Specify, propose, budget, and source process instrumentation, PLCs, drives, and components.
  • Supervise the installation, test, and start-up phases of new control systems.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, calibrate field devices, and correct software errors to minimize downtime.
  • Review, repair, optimize, and redesign legacy automation code to modern architectures.
  • Guide maintenance staff and train during new project startup and deployment.
