Job summary

Design Group is seeking a Controls Engineer to join our Control System Integration Practice in Memphis and help world-leading companies solve complex automation challenges. You will develop automation solutions, design control systems, and verify installations from design through commissioning, while collaborating with senior leaders and clients.

You will work with experts in PLC/SCADA, instrumentation, and electrical design, traveling as needed to support installation and startup activities,

Qualifications

Experience in control systems engineering for automated manufacturing.
Strong troubleshooting skills in high-intensity environments.
Experience designing automation controls systems (PLC, SCADA).
Solid understanding of UL508A panel design and fabrication.
Knowledge of instrumentation and controls (I&C) and engineering documentation (P&IDs, PFDs, SOPs).
Experience with field instrumentation and control system installation.
Willingness to travel for project requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering or similar field preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop automation solutions and participate in various phases of automation projects including creating design specifications, software configuration and testing, and the commissioning and start-up of a variety of high speed and other automated manufacturing processes
Design automation control systems and create project documentation and drawings to meet client requirements
Diagnose automation problems
Interface with teams, clients and vendors
Configure software and hardware packages according to client design specifications
Program PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Rockwell) and HMI/SCADAs (FactoryTalk, Cimplicity, Wonderware, Ignition)
Communicate plan progress to project stakeholders
Manage engineering projects
Manage project deliverables to agreed schedule and scope
Manage site construction and installation
Manage site start-up support of integrated control systems
Validate and commission facility systems following established execution protocols, and ensure the successful turnover of the system to the customer
