Design Group is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to lead startup and commissioning of I&C scope for AI-driven data centers in Abilene and Haskell, TX. You will manage on-site deployment of BMS and EPMS, configure devices, and oversee integration with critical infrastructure.

The role requires 5+ years of field experience, strong communication, and willingness to travel or relocate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience starting up control systems with significant onsite time.
• Ability to spend significant time onsite 75%.
• Open to travel 100% or relocate near the site (relocation assistance offered).
• Strong communication and ability to work within large teams.
• Experience with BMS and EPMS commissioning is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure successful deployment of multiple greenfield data centers; BMS and EPMS scope.
• Receive designs and deploy to each site.
• Point-to-Point checkout of thousands of devices.
• Configure communication protocols for equipment including switchgear and breakers.
• Configure and calibrate instruments (meters, VFDs, flow meters, etc.).
• Deploy and commission Ignition applications.
• Provide guidance to subcontractors onsite (electricians).

Design Group is leading the Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) scope for a AI-driven data centers located in the Abilene and Haskell, TX area. Design Group has been contracted to deliver the I&C scope for the Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS). Our responsibilities encompass engineering, procurement, system integration, on-site checkout, and commissioning of instrumentation and control elements supporting critical infrastructure, including chillers, air handling units, fan coil arrays, power distribution centers, transformers, UPS systems, and feeder protection. The EPMS scope also includes system visualization, monitoring, alarming, and integration of critical electrical infrastructure.

Required Qualifications/Expectations
