Job description

To help us drive excellence, you’ll get to:
  1. Provide the necessary Electrical Controls Engineering skills and leadership to the Engineering and Operations departments to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and delivery goals, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  2. Maintain PLC-based control systems for manufacturing automation and instrumentation.
  3. Program PLC ladder logic.
  4. Lead projects and assist skilled trades in electrical disciplines.
  5. Support operations in electrical/controls troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities.
  6. Generate wiring schematics and control drawings with AutoCAD; maintain all plant electrical prints.
  7. Work closely with engineering to define system control needs.
  8. Assist in engineering changes and new programs related to controls.
  9. Guide design, development, and testing of electrical control methods, materials, and processes.
  10. Coordinate engineering changes across departments.
  11. Train, coach, and mentor controls engineers, manufacturing, and skilled trades associates.
  12. Work on the plant floor as needed.

This full-time, salaried role is part of our Plant Maintenance Team and reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Required experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of related technical and hands-on experience in engineering or related disciplines.
  • Experience as a controls engineer with knowledge of electrical controls and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in PLC hardware and Ladder Logic programming.
  • Strong electrical/mechanical aptitude.
  • Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in AB PLC and HMI programming software (e.g., Studio 5000).
  • Understanding of electrical/controls circuitry and schematics.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Ethernet, factory automation systems, and server networking.
  • Knowledge of NEC, OSHA, RIA standards, and safety practices.
  • Experience with factory information systems and electrical/mechanical components like sensors, motors, drives, contactors, power supplies, and wiring devices.
  • Ability to work well in a team, with proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
