Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. is seeking a Controls Engineer II to design and implement monitoring, communication and system control hardware and software for the Substation Division.

The role is hybrid, based in Warrendale, PA, reporting to the SSD Section Manager. Responsibilities include PLC/SCADA development, hardware/software specifications, vendor reviews, FAT/SAT testing, and progress tracking toward milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience or equivalent.
• Advanced knowledge of network and communication protocols, logic and control platforms, and system programming.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and verify PLC logic and SCADA software to monitor and control substation systems.
• Aid design improvements for product quality, processing time, lead time and support.
• Create hardware and software specs for substation projects and review drawings.
• Review vendor product submittals and quotes.
• Design, implement and troubleshoot communication links between substation devices.
• Perform FAT and SAT and create test plans and results.
• Monitor progress toward milestones and communicate updates.

Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) is seeking a Controls Engineer II to design and implement monitoring, communication and system control hardware and software for the Substation Division (SSD).

This position will report to the Substation Division Engineering & Drafting Section Manager and is a hybrid position in Warrendale, PA.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, implement and verify Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) logic and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software to monitor and control substation systems.


• Assist with developing and implementing design improvements for product quality, processing time, component lead time, construction design and product support.


• Identify and create hardware and software specifications for substation projects. Prepare and review mechanical and electrical drawings.


• Review vendor product submittals and quotes.


• Design, implement and troubleshoot communication links and networks between substation devices.


• Perform factory acceptance tests (FAT) and field/site acceptance tests (SAT). Create test plans and record results.


• Monitor and track progress towards completion milestones and deadlines. Communicate progress towards the achievement of milestones and deadlines.

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree inElectrical Engineeringor related discipline with 3-5 years of experience, or equivalent education and experience.


• Advanced knowledge of network and communication protocols, logic and control platforms, and system programming.


• Advanced knowledge of process instrumentation.


• Advanced interpersonal communication skills required to communicate with employees, customers and suppliers.


• Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.


• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and material.


• Advanced computer skills, emphasizing knowledge of MS Office products and CAD software.
