Powerex-Iwata Air Technology Inc. in Mt. Juliet, TN is offering a Controls Engineer Co-op for Spring 2027.

You will collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to develop solutions, program HMIs and PLCs, and contribute to product line maintenance in a hands-on, project-based environment. The role supports learning through term-by-term assignments, including creating engineering drawings, assisting on the production floor, and participating in new product development and process

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-year engineering-focused higher education completed at start of co-op.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Electrical aptitude with a passion for designing systems with HMIs and PLCs.
• Experience with basic laboratory electronic equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, multimeters, etc.) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support team members in creating job packets for Production to build orders.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of engineering drawings.
• Assist in resolving issues on the Production floor.
• Program HMIs to add new functionality.
• Design and implement small projects to improve the existing line of products.
• Execute and implement Engineering Change Notices.
