Controls Engineer - After Sales Department

Job Description:

The Controls Engineer in the After Sales Department within the Operations Department is a point of contact for service support between Interlake Mecalux and our customers with Automated Interlake Mecalux Solutions. This role ensures customer satisfaction during the complete life cycle of our automated installation by performing corrective maintenance and modifications of the solutions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as a customer contact to resolve product/service concerns for Interlake Mecalux Automation Solutions.
  2. Perform remote monitoring, troubleshooting, and removing faults, failures and disturbances in automation equipment and devices remotely and at the customers' sites.
  3. Modify the PLC program to manage the machines based on the standard Mecalux libraries.
  4. Modify the hardware and fieldbus parametrization using the different tools depending the solution.
  5. Download devices parametrizations from database. Modify the parametrization for nonstandard systems.
  6. Troubleshoot control programs for VFDs, operator panels, barcode scanners, control tablets, and PLCs.
  7. Validate the transfer from operations to aftersales following the internal checklist and protocols, paying special attention to ensure that safety devices are properly installed and functioning.
  8. Assist Project Managers in determining the human resources demand for an after sales project.
  9. Identify and delegate the tasks for electromechanics to assist in after sales services, ensuring they are completed properly and on time, reporting deviations to the After Sales Manager.
  10. Track and report issues and tickets (incidents, improvements, preventive maintenance). Keeping an accurate record of the timeline and solution applied.
  11. Support the customer's maintenance and/or other personnel on proper operation of the Galileo software and HMI interfaces. Schedule trainings on site or virtually, accommodating the customer's availability.
  12. Keep the aftersales database updated after completing any changes to the customer's programs.
  13. Professional exposure to the field of Industrial Automation.
  14. Knowledge of PLC, HMI and SCADA programming preferred.
  15. C programming language knowledge preferred.
  16. Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams.
  17. Knowledge of Frequency Inverters parameterization and operation (preferable SEW and Lenze) preferred.
  18. Knowledge of the Fieldbus networks (Profibus, Profinet, etc.) preferred.
  19. Spanish fluency is ideal.
  20. Personality: Candidates must be organized and methodical in their work, with the ability to learn quickly and adapt easily to change. Candidates must be able to persevere through difficult work challenges with the highest degree of dedication. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to interact and communicate effectively with personnel from all levels of the organization. Ability to work under time pressure.
  21. Able and willing to travel at least 50%.
  22. Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
