Job Summary

The Controls Engineer will support the design, calibration, analysis, and validation of advanced engine control systems. This position focuses on feedback control of dynamic systems, using MATLAB/Simulink to develop and analyze controls in both simulation and real-engine test environments. The engineer will work across the engine controls lifecycle, from researching and developing new control algorithms through calibration, validation, troubleshooting, and support of existing products. This is a hands-on engineering role combining analytical controls development with direct exposure to engine hardware and test cells.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, analyze, calibrate, and validate engine control systems in simulation and on-engine environments.
  • Apply feedback control theory for dynamic systems to develop and improve advanced engine controllers.
  • Perform control-system design, modeling, simulation, and analysis using MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Analyze engine and test data, identify performance issues, and clearly present engineering findings.
  • Troubleshoot control-system and hardware issues using structured root-cause analysis.
  • Test, evaluate, modify, and calibrate products, control strategies, and instrumentation.
  • Support research and development of new control algorithms as well as established engine-control products already operating in the field.
  • Collaborate with technical leads, engineering peers, and process partners on control-system development and validation activities.
  • Support hands-on engine testing and validation within laboratory and test-cell environments.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience; a graduate degree in a relevant field may count toward the experience requirement.
  • Strong knowledge of feedback control of dynamic systems.
  • Hands-on experience with control-system design and analysis using MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience performing root-cause analysis.
  • Understanding of controls development, calibration, testing, and validation.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret engineering and engine-performance data.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and hands-on engine test-cell environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with engine controls, powertrain controls, or dynamic control systems.
  • Experience calibrating control systems in simulation and on physical engine hardware.
  • Experience researching, developing, or validating control algorithms.
  • Hands-on experience with engine testing, test cells, instrumentation, or hardware validation.
  • Experience working within cross-functional controls, calibration, validation, or product-development teams.
Why This Role?

This position offers an opportunity to gain end-to-end engine controls experience, from researching new control algorithms through supporting established products in the field. You’ll apply feedback-controls knowledge to design, calibrate, and validate advanced controllers while gaining direct hands-on exposure to real engine hardware and test-cell environments. The role also provides an opportunity to work alongside a large, collaborative engineering team with deep controls expertise while contributing to meaningful engine technology and product-development programs.
