Job Title: Controls Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to establish procedures for designing and starting up PLC controlled systems for material handling equipment. The ideal candidate will have a fundamental understanding of equipment, business, and customer requirements that drive the design of technical solutions. You will participate in all phases of the product development lifecycle, including analysis, design, electrical designs, installation support, debugging, and support of complementary engineering staff associated with electrical hardware engineering. System training will be provided to increase PLC knowledge for programming PLCs that control conveyor systems and robotics within the customer's distribution center and warehouse.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project requirements and perform basic controls troubleshooting to support equipment with internal engineering, project management, and customers.
  • Support electrical installation by interfacing with electrical installers.
  • Debug electrical installations of controls and motor components of limited complexity.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • 3+ years of experience in controls engineering.
  • Experience programming PLCs, specifically Studio 5000 and Rockwell.
  • Ability to travel 65-75% of the time.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC programming.
  • Knowledge of material handling equipment and conveyors.
  • Familiarity with automation software such as Rockwell RSLogix.

Work Environment

This position requires travel 65-75% of the time across the country to client sites. The typical travel schedule involves 10 days on the job site followed by 4 days off. Candidates are compensated for travel time and are eligible for per diem. All travel expenses are covered.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
