Job summary

EnerSys is seeking a controls engineer to lead plant-wide and corporate projects to optimize, upgrade, and enhance control systems for manufacturing equipment.

You will work with a cross-functional team of engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance personnel to develop and improve machine concepts, manage scope, schedule, and budgets, and support maintenance and operations with technical expertise.

Qualifications

• BS degree or equivalent in engineering.
• 1–3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• College-level English language skills in writing and speaking.
• Strong root-cause problem solving and analytical abilities.
• Familiar with ladder logic and structured text programming.
• Experience with electrical schematics and control documentation.

Responsibilities

• Implement PLC and robot logic changes for production lines.
• Modify electrical schematics and operating instructions.
• Provide technical support to maintenance and operations teams.
• Coordinate build, installation, and training of control equipment.
• Support project management activities as needed.

Job description

Job Purpose

The controls engineer will lead plant-wide and corporate-wide projects to optimize, upgrade, and enhance the controls systems of our manufacturing equipment. The controls engineer will work to develop and improve machine and process concepts with a cross‑functional team including other engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance personnel. The controls engineer will also manage project scope, schedule, and budget. This position will work closely with project engineering, process engineering, and maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement PLC and Robot logic changes
• Modify documentation for electrical schematics and operations instructions
• Provide technical support to maintenance and operations
• Coordinate electrical control equipment build, installation, and training
• Project management experience preferred
• Strong robotic experience in Fanuc and Vision Guided Systems
• Strong PLC experience with Allen Bradley and Modicon with ladder logic and structured text
• Electrical and electronic troubleshooting knowledge
• Basic understanding of networking
  • Sercos, Device Net, Ethernet I/P
• Proficient in AutoCAD electrical and SolidWorks

Basic understanding of PID and process control.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: BS degree or equivalent experience in engineering.

1–3+ years experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Language Skills: College level written and verbal English skills.

Mathematical Skills: College level Geometry, Algebra, and Trigonometry.

Reasoning Ability: Strong root cause problem solving, visualization, and quality tools.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office programs.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None.

Other Skills and Abilities: Planning, analytical, assertive, and interact with various groups.
