Job summary

Kforce is seeking a Controls Engineer in Sparks, NV to program and debug PLCs across multiple platforms, and to design operator touchscreens and SCADA dashboards for complex manufacturing lines.

You will tune servo drives, develop robust control sequences, and ensure safety architectures while coordinating with technicians and suppliers on installation and commissioning. Strong PLC and HMI experience is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar controls engineering role preferred.
• Relevant education or training considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Program and debug ladder logic and structured text on PLC platforms.
• Create operator touchscreens and SCADA dashboards using WinCC, Proface, Weintek, and Ignition.
• Develop robust control programs for multi-station machinery including pick/place, dispense, roll-to-roll, welding, and testing.
• Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs for smooth operation.
• Design and implement safe control architectures for robots, conveyors, and gantries.
• Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, and fluid/pneumatic plumbing.
• Coordinate with suppliers during design, buyoff, and installation of automation equipment.
• Maintain documentation and conduct functional safety audits as required.
• Assist in hardware installation and guide electrical technicians on site.

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in Sparks, NV that is seeking a Controls Engineer who will program and debug structured text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms (Siemens TIA Portal and Omron Sysmac Studio).

• Create intuitive operator touchscreen interfaces using Siemens WinCC/Proface/Weintek EasyBuilder and SCADA dashboards screens using Ignition


• Create robust programs and sequences to control complex, multi-station machinery to perform processes such as material pick and place, dispense, roll to roll, welding, testing and material transport


• Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs for fast and smooth operation


• Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits


• Design and implement control reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high-volume manufacturing equipment as per codes and standards


• Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing


• Manage suppliers during specification, design, buyoff and installation of automated manufacturing equipment


• Develop & maintain proper documentation of all electrical equipment and associated procedures, making updates as required


• Conducting all remaining functional safety gap audits to ensure all meet functional safety requirements and satisfy all callouts within the associate Risk Assessment


• Designing all Functional Safety upgrade electrical and software design changes


• Conduct I/O Checks and go through the electrical integrity sheet to ensure all inputs and outputs are tested


• Coordinate and assist in parts procurement needed to implement designed safety architecture


• Working with electrical technicians and guiding then during hardware installation

Requirements

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
