Roam Robotics, based in San Francisco, seeks engineers to design and validate control strategies for a wearable knee actuator used in real-world environments. You’ll work with the controls team to tune, simulate, and test deployed hardware from prototype to production.
Required is a BS in a relevant field and 3+ years in robotic control, with C++, Python, or MATLAB experience. The role is full-time and on-site in San Francisco, with a focus on rapid, rigorous development in a startup setting.
Roam Robotics develops lightweight wearable exoskeletons that augment human strength and endurance for military operators. Our pneumatic systems deliver an unmatched power-to-weight ratio, and our products are currently deployed in support of U.S. military programs. We're looking for engineers who want to build technology that matters and see it reach real operators in the field.
This is a full-time, on-site position at our San Francisco facility. You will work alongside our controls team to develop, validate, and refine control strategies for a wearable knee actuator deployed in demanding real-world environments. The role values both practical implementation experience — tuning and debugging control systems on deployed hardware — and theoretical depth, using models and simulation to plan strategy and predict system behavior. Your work will directly inform how we develop and evaluate the system through our prototype phase and into production.
