Job summary

Auria, a leading global supplier of engineered systems for automotive flooring, acoustical and other fiber-based solutions, seeks a Controls Engineer for its Saint Clair, Michigan plant. You will troubleshoot, program PLCs and HMIs, and support electrical/instrumentation performance across manufacturing lines using Rockwell, Siemens, Cognex, Keyence, SEW and Lenze equipment.

Design and implement electrical systems, conduct testing, review diagrams, and collaborate with engineers and technicians

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Five years of related experience preferred.
  • Experience with Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Siemens and Omron PLC/HMI systems.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, Profibus, RS-232, DeviceNet and DH+.
  • Ability to read and update electrical schematic drawings.

  • Work with plant teams to facilitate continuous improvement of electrical and instrumentation performance.
  • Participate in project teams and provide engineering technical support.
  • PLC programming, HMI programming, Vision System programming, and VFD configuration.
  • Design and implementation of electrical systems.
  • Develops electrical products by studying customer requirements and testing methods.
  • Reviews electrical plans, specifications and reports; conducts tests and inspections.

We are currently searching for Controls Engineer to join our team at our Saint Clair Plant in Saint Clair, Michigan.

What you will do:
  • Proactively identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues to support and improve efficiency of the manufacturing facilities
  • Work with plant operational teams to facilitate continuous improvement efforts related to electrical and instrumentation performance
  • Participate in project teams and all activities related to engineering technical support
  • PLC programming, HMI programming, Vision System programming, and VFD configuration (Rockwell, Siemens, Cognex, Keyence, SEW, Lenze)
  • Design and implementation of electrical systems
  • Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs and applying knowledge of electricity and materials.
  • Confirms systems and components’ capabilities by designing testing methods.
  • Develops electrical products by studying customer requirements and researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
  • Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Reviewing electrical engineering plans, specifications, and reports
  • Conducting tests and inspections of electrical systems and equipment
  • Collaborating with engineers and technicians
  • Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Keeps equipment operational by following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures and requesting repair service.
  • Maintains product database by writing computer programs and entering data.
  • Any additional reasonable request deemed necessary by management

What you will bring:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical experience with a minimum of five (5) years preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
  • PC Hardware setup, troubleshooting, maintaining
  • Basic LAN knowledge and functionality (TCP/IP)
  • Basic LAN hardware knowledge (switches, cabling, routers)
  • Software installation/upgrading
  • Network printing
  • Basic AD knowledge (disable users, change passwords)
  • Windows 7
  • Installing / troubleshooting label printers and hand held scanners
  • Backup exec (or similar software)
  • Ability to read and update electrical schematic drawings
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and systems involving Urethane reaction injection molding, Rotational dry cast cells, Vacuum forming, Paint cells, Laser scoring, water jets, sonic and vibration welding and others
  • Experience Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Siemens and Omron PLC/HMI systems
  • Industrial protocols such as Ethernet, Profibus, RS-232, Devicenet, DH+
  • Strong deductive reasoning/problem solving skills
  • Visual Basic or other software design is a plus
  • AutoCAD design software
