Job summary

Job description

Controls Engineer

Based in Rushville, IN, you will work as a Controls Engineer to develop, design, program, and debug new and existing equipment and automated/robotic solutions to optimize performance.

Responsibilities

• Interact closely with cross-functional teams to develop, design, program, and debug new or existing equipment and automated/robotic solutions to optimize performance.
• Collaborate with Copeland engineers to ensure controls/automation/programming designs align with Copeland standards.
• Work with outside integrators and machine builders to confirm new equipment meets design requirements and performs as expected.
• Interface with Copeland manufacturing facilities to gain an understanding of their needs and how best to meet them.
• Develop documentation for use by operators and maintenance technicians to perform their duties and assist them in troubleshooting.
• Ensure all production related equipment meet all safety requirements in accordance with applicable industry standards.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent, plus 3–5 years of related experience, or an associate’s degree with equivalent work experience.
• Excellent communication skills, including listening, meeting facilitation, and project report‑outs.
• Experience in PLC/HMI programming.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Motivated self‑starter and team player, capable of working closely with Management, Product Engineering, Peers, Equipment Suppliers, and Plant Personnel.
• Experience and working knowledge of PC applications and Microsoft Online Products.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills

• Experience with Prism Schedule Assembly or similar scheduling systems.
• Knowledge of a 4‑day, 10‑hour work‑shift schedule or willingness to work extended hours as required.

Location & Working Hours

The facility is located in Rushville, IN, less than an hour from Indianapolis. Work schedule includes a 4‑day, 10‑hour work‑shift schedule or standard five‑day schedule as per role requirement.
