Job summary

Komline in Rockford, IL is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to design electrical control systems for filtration equipment, program PLCs and HMIs, and provide field support. • Conduct the internal system run-off while coordinating with the project team and production department.
• Direct support staff and contractors with installation and/or repair of control systems at customer facilities.
• Provide status reports to internal teams and customers as required.
• Provide technical direction and assist in problem resolution for the project.

The Electrical Controls Engineer will design electrical controls systems for filtration equipment. This includes the following tasks: system design, creation of electrical drawing packages, requisition of parts, programming of PLCs and HMIs, run-off of equipment, field support and project management of the electrical portion of projects (creation of electrical schedules, review of project specs, meetings with customers and internal coordination with other departments).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the review of customer specifications and company quotes
• Develop electrical control designs using national, local and customer specifications
• Creation of electrical drawing packages for the requisition of parts, system production and PLC/HMI programming
• Creation of both PLC and HMI programs to both company and customer specifications
• Conduct the internal system run-off while working with both the project team and the production department.
• Direct support staff, customer employees and outside contractors with the installation and/or repair of the control systems at the customer’s facilities
• Provide detailed status reports both internally and to the customer as required
• Provide technical direction, prepare briefings for management and assist in problem resolution specific to the program/project

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in the design, repair and analysis of control systems and automation.B.S.E.E. degree. A two year technical degree in electronics may be acceptable if combined with enough industry experience. Proficiency in MS Office Comfortable working in industrial facilities such as automotive plant.
• Working knowledge of the following specifications required: NEC, NFPA79, and UL508A
• Working knowledge of AutoCad and AutoCad Electrical
• Working knowledge of Allen Bradley Studio 5000, Siemens Simatic Step 7, and TIA Portal
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Comfortable working in industrial facilities such as automotive plants

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the IEC 60204 and CSA standards
• Working knowledge of EPLAN
• Knowledge of other PLC/HMI software from GE, OMRON, Mitsubishi and SQ D
• Ability to travel up to a maximum of 25%
• Willingness to participate in a team-oriented environment
