Job summary

Auria is seeking a Controls Engineer for our Saint Clair, Michigan facility. The role focuses on proactively identifying and resolving issues to improve manufacturing efficiency, with hands-on PLC and HMI programming across Rockwell, Siemens, Cognex, Keyence, SEW, and Lenze equipment.

You will design electrical systems and evaluate components, participate in project teams, and support testing, inspections, and data analysis. A BS in Engineering and 5+ years in related work are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical experience; 5+ years preferred.
• Experience reading electrical schematics and designing electrical systems.
• Experience with Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Siemens and Omron PLC/HMI systems.
• Familiarity with industrial protocols such as Ethernet, Profibus, RS-232, Devicenet, DH+.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues to improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Program PLCs and HMIs; configure VFDs for electrical/instrumentation performance.
• Engage with project teams to provide engineering technical support.
• Design and implement electrical systems; review plans and reports.

We are currently searching forControls Engineer to join our team at our Saint Clair Plant in Saint Clair, Michigan.

What you will do:

• Proactively identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues to support and improve efficiency of the manufacturing facilities
• Work with plant operational teams to facilitate continuous improvement efforts related to electrical and instrumentation performance
• Participate in project teams and all activities related to engineering technical support
• PLC programming, HMI programming, Vision System programming, and VFD configuration (Rockwell, Siemens, Cognex, Keyence, SEW, Lenze)
• Design and implementation of electrical systems
• Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs and applying knowledge of electricity and materials.
• Confirms systems and components’ capabilities by designing testing methods.
• Develops electrical products by studying customer requirements and researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
• Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Reviewing electrical engineering plans, specifications, and reports
• Conducting tests and inspections of electrical systems and equipment
• Collaborating with engineers and technicians
• Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.
• Keeps equipment operational by following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures and requesting repair service.
• Maintains product database by writing computer programs and entering data.
• Any additional reasonable request deemed necessary by management

What you will bring:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical experience with a minimum of five (5) years preferred.

Travel Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

• PC Hardware setup, troubleshooting, maintaining
• Basic LAN knowledge and functionality (TCP/IP)
• Basic LAN hardware knowledge (switches, cabling, routers)
• Software installation/upgrading
• Network printing
• Basic AD knowledge (disable users, change passwords)
• Windows 7
• Installing / troubleshooting label printers and hand held scanners
• Backup exec (or similar software)
• Ability to read and update electrical schematic drawings
• Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and systems involving Urethane reaction injection molding, Rotational dry cast cells, Vacuum forming, Paint cells, Laser scoring, water jets, sonic and vibration welding and others
• Experience Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Siemens and Omron PLC/HMI systems
• Industrial protocols such as Ethernet, Profibus, RS-232, Devicenet, DH+
• Strong deductive reasoning/problem solving skills
• Visual Basic or other software design is a plus
• AutoCAD design software
