Job summary

Forvia, a leader in sustainable mobility technology, seeks a Process/Controls Engineer to provide controls and electrical engineering support to the UAP cell, assist maintenance, troubleshoot, and reduce downtime.

Responsibilities include designing and implementing processes, engineering change management, and supporting production with PLC and vision system programming, robotics, and lean manufacturing practices. English proficiency required; travel limited to training.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience in automotive manufacturing, including Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or technical discipline.
  • Trained in Faurecia Excellence System.
  • Proficient in English.

Your mission, roles and responsibilities

Position Summary: This role does not have regular business travel requirement except for training. The Process/Controls Engineer provides controls / electrical engineering support to the assigned UAP cell and assists maintenance in supporting the plant through trouble shooting / problem solving methodologies to eliminate down time and decrease quality defects to the customer. The Process/Control Engineer will also write / create / modify programs to meet the plant objectives as well as maintain warranty and OEM liabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the Engineering Change Management process
  • Responsible for the process design and implementation
  • Support continuous improvement
  • Support production through problem solving and participation in QRCI process
  • Assist production with trouble shooting and programming
  • Behave in accordance with our values as established in Faurecia’s code of ethics and code of management.

Automation/Controls Responsibilities
  • Trouble shooting and programming PLC’s – preferably Siemens
  • Trouble shooting and programming vision inspection systems
  • Robotics – Linear and articulating
  • Lean – assembly line balancing, visual factory, Kanban
Process design
  • Define cycle time in line with takt time and standard operations
  • Integrate ergonomics principles in line design
  • Release manufacturing process documents
  • Issue process flowcharts
  • Conduct process FMEA
  • Support updating plant layout
  • Follow-up prototype builds
  • Get support from relevant technology experts or support functions
Process implementation
  • Ensure equipment delivery and installation in the plant for continuous improvement
  • Carry out process activity analysis
  • Implement improvement action plans
  • Participate in equipment reception process
  • Capitalise on lessons learned and provide best practices
Your profile and competencies to succeed
Knowledge / Skills
  • Strong communication skills - ability to interface with other functions – and work with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skilled
  • Must be very knowledgeable in Process and Manufacturing methods
Education / Experience
  • No regular business travel requirement except for training
  • At least 5 years’ experience in automotive manufacturing, including one position in Manufacturing Engineering
  • Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or technical discipline
  • Trained in Faurecia Excellence System
  • Auto CAD, Electrical and mechanical, Multiple controls logic languages software programming, robot programming, robot programming
  • Proficient level of English
