Industrial Controls in Louisville, KY is seeking an Automation Specialist II to join the Engineering & Controls team. You will lead automation efforts across projects, design control system architecture, and coordinate with customers and internal stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

The role focuses on PLC and HMI development, debugging during commissioning, and building reusable templates.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of Industrial Controls experience in architectural, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry or similar field.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent Industrial controls experience.
  • 4 years of experience in PLC programming, including ladder logic, function block, and structured text.
  • Proficiency with Allen Bradley equipment and systems, plus familiarity with networking (Ethernet/IP).
  • Experience and knowledge of HMIs, including the ability to develop and validate control system functionality.

  • Read and interpret diagrams and documentation, and communicate with customers to understand objectives and preferences.
  • Develop overall control system architecture and communication strategy between control system elements.
  • Serve as technical lead for small projects, including building PLC and HMI templates for the project.
  • Develop PLC programs (Ladder, Function Block, and other languages), HMI, test plans, simulation logic, and training materials; test installed systems and troubleshoot startup issues.

As an Automation Specialist II, you will be part of the Engineering & Controls team supporting project delivery and commissioning activities. The ideal candidate will have strong technical ownership, clear communication with stakeholders, and a drive to troubleshoot and improve automation systems which will align successfully in the organization.
