Job summary

Gabletek is seeking a Controls Engineer on a contract basis in Lafayette, IN to support daily production and maintenance of automated systems, standardize PLC logic, and improve equipment reliability across robotic and automated lines.

The role requires hands-on experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000), interfacing PLCs with ABB robots, and knowledge of Keyence/Cognex vision systems, along with strong electrical troubleshooting skills.

JOB SUMMARY

We're looking for Controls Engineers to support daily production and maintenance in an automated manufacturing plant. You'll standardize PLC logic, reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability across robotic and automated systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support daily production and maintenance on automated and robotic equipment.
• Standardize PLC logic across lines and cells.
• Improve Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and Mean Cycles Between Failure (MCBF).
• Find and implement cycle time and uptime improvements.
• Troubleshoot and modify Allen-Bradley PLC programs.
• Support ABB robot interfaces and Keyence and Cognex vision systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical controls, I/O, safety circuits and networks.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLC experience (Studio 5000).
• Experience interfacing PLCs with ABB robots.
• Experience with Keyence and/or Cognex vision systems.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills using schematics and prints.
• Available for 1st or 3rd shift, with flexibility to work over or under shift as needed.
