Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation is seeking a Controls Engineer to design and program building automation systems for site-specific configurations. You will work in a team, apply problem-solving and multitasking skills, and contribute to larger, moderately complex projects.

The role emphasizes design, programming, and testing across BAS, with opportunities to support sales and improve customer outcomes. A strong HVAC/BAS background is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 1+ years HVAC/BAS experience.
  • Associate degree with 2+ years HVAC/BAS experience.
  • High School Diploma with 4+ years HVAC/BAS experience.
  • Ability to translate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Capable of climbing ladders or using lift equipment over 8 feet and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Design and program building automation systems, site-specific configuration of control system, and control algorithms.
  • Adhere to project requirements and company and customer standards of design, programming, and implementation.
  • Create a clear design document for project teams with technical information.
  • Document and communicate the building automation system design and revisions.
  • Develop graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems.
  • Test programming and interfaces prior to implantation.
  • Provide technical support to sales representatives to ensure customers’ needs are met.
  • Identify and communicate project opportunities and risks.
  • Support functional testing for building systems.

About this role

As a Controls Engineer, you will be crucial to ALC’s business through designing advanced building automation systems created specifically for each individual customer. We are looking for someone who works well in a team and has excellent problem‑solving, time‑management, and multitasking skills. You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge on larger and moderately more complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with 1+ years of HVAC/Building Automation Systems (BAS) experience.
  • Associate Degree with 2+ years of HVAC/Building Automation Systems (BAS) experience.
  • High School Diploma with 4+ years of HVAC/Building Automation Systems (BAS) experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering or Construction discipline.
  • Experience in HVAC controls, Building Automation, or related industry.
  • Working knowledge of primary functions of building automation system software and associated engineering tools; Automated Logic suites preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Automated Logic software, hardware, peripherals, add‑ons, and services.
  • Experience with third‑party communication protocols used in building automation, such as BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2, etc.
  • Experience with Enterprise IP networks and Microsoft Visio or similar software.
  • Ability to understand written sequences of operations, diagrammatic depictions of systems.
  • Able to translate technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs.
Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $64,500.00 and $129,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Other Compensation

This position may be entitled to short‑term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
