The Controls Engineer provides controls diagnostic training and technical support to maintenance and controls personnel across manufacturing facilities. This role supports efficient equipment operation, reduces downtime, and ensures control systems are properly designed and maintained for food processing environments. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, system design review, training, and ongoing support of automation and control systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide controls and diagnostic training to technicians, electricians, and mechanics
- Support plant operations by troubleshooting and maintaining control and electronic systems
- Review and evaluate controls designs for new and existing equipment
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and analog I/O systems
- Support robotics, VFDs, valves, PID controls, and networked control systems
- Diagnose and calibrate process instruments and control systems
- Conduct functional testing and maintain accurate documentation
- Promote safe work practices and perform duties as assigned by the Senior Controls Engineer
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's in Controls, Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering
- 5-10 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing controls
- Strong experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs specifically Allen Bradley
- Experience with HMI interfaces and programming
