Job summary

Yanfeng US Automotive Interior Systems II LLC is seeking an experienced controls engineer to diagnose and fix electrical and mechanical issues across production equipment. You will develop specs, support maintenance, and train staff on PLCs and HMI interfaces.

The role requires travel to customer sites, strong knowledge of Allen-Bradley systems, and a focus on cost-effective upgrades and safety compliance across facilities.

Qualifications

• 3-5 minimum years as a controls engineer, PLC programmer, or equivalent.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites, including industrial plants.
• Special knowledge of electronic design systems and PLC interfaces.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming and drives.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve causes of electrical and mechanical malfunctions on all equipment.
• Assist the maintenance department in installing new electrical control equipment and making it operational.
• Develop engineering specifications for electrical control systems and equipment modifications.
• Provide technical support to the maintenance department; plan and record periodic electrical analysis on production equipment.
• Recommend and initiate modifications or replacement of equipment meeting operating standards.
• Provide training for maintenance on operation and diagnostics of machine controls and motor controllers.
• Research and implement cost effective upgrades to equipment and facilities.
• Research and implement cost effective replacement of electrical control parts.
• Keep updated electrical drawings and schematics and maintain backups for all machine programs.
• Recommend electrical spare parts inventory for all new and existing production equipment.
• Develop programming and provide support for PLCs, Robots and Panel Views to maximize quality and production.
• Provide technical support to other facilities if needed.
• Maintain current corporate programming standards.
• Improve human machine interfaces.
• Implement quality improvements.

Job description

• Develop programming and provide support for Programmable Logic Controllers, Robots and Panel Views to maximize both quality and production.

Required Qualifications(Experience Level, Skills, Knowledge)

• 3-5 Minimum Years of Experience as a Controls Engineer, PLC Programmer, or equivalent role.
• Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
• Special knowledge of electronic design systems.
• Ability to program and interface Allen Bradley drives and controls systems.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems as it relates to controls of such systems.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming.

Preferred Qualifications (Experience Level, Skills, Knowledge)

• 3-5 Minimum Years of Experience within the automotive industry
• Advanced level Allen Bradley PLC programming.
• Ability to program mainline logic products (Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi, etc)
• Some knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as it relates to controls of such systems.
• Advanced level in HMI interfaces and layouts for best operator experience.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate, program, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial vision sensors and machine vision systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience implementing and supporting Industry 4.0 technologies, including connected devices, data acquisition systems, automation, and real-time manufacturing analytics.
• Working knowledge and basic understanding of networking principles.
• Experience leveraging manufacturing data to drive process improvements, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
