Our client is seeking a Manufacturing Controls Engineer to join their team and drive strategic and tactical improvements in their manufacturing operations. In this role, you will work closely with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to implement new robotics equipment and enhance equipment performance, increase machine uptime, and ensure efficient production. This is a hands-on opportunity to lead automation initiatives, optimize control systems, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Projects You'll Work On

• Optimize Equipment Performance – Collaborate with production supervisors and engineers to analyze machine downtime, perform root cause investigations, and implement control system improvements.
• Automation & Controls Development – Design, develop, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and motion control systems to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
• Preventive & Predictive Maintenance – Review machine safety programming, ensure proper execution of backup systems, and assess equipment health using performance data.
• New Equipment & Upgrades – Lead efforts in designing and integrating new manufacturing equipment, overseeing installation, and ensuring seamless on-boarding into operations.
• Standardization & Documentation – Develop and maintain electrical drawings, programming standards, and control system documentation.

What Experience You Should Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in Controls Engineering or industrial automation troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical for electrical design and documentation.
• Strong background in Allen Bradley or Siemens Step 7 PLCs, HMIs, Safety Programming, and network configuration.
• Hands-on experience with Fanuc robots, servo motors, VFD drives, and motion control.
• Experience with Cognex/Keyence vision systems, welding controls, and laser welding is a plus.
