Job summary

Clarios is a leading battery materials company that powers vehicles for major automakers worldwide. We seek an engineer focused on continuous improvement of plant processes and equipment, including PLC changes and Six Sigma-driven uptime gains.

You will lead cross-functional teams, support maintenance and capital projects, and ensure production meets quality and engineering standards while collaborating with plant and division engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical or Manufacturing field.
  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing engineering experience (internships count).
  • Minimum 1 year PLC programming experience with ladder logic.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Improve plant processes and equipment including design and PLC program changes.
  • Lead plant teams in the development of process improvements.
  • Provide technical support for plant operations including maintenance and capital projects.
  • Act as liaison between plant and division engineering for communication and reporting.
  • Monitor process performance and implement capital and non-capital projects.
  • Work with quality control and manufacturing to ensure capability and conformity to standards.
  • Review new/modified specifications and schedule integration into manufacturing.

What You Will Do

Under minimal supervision, responsible for the continuous improvement of plant processes and equipment including design and PLC program changes, mechanical and electrical documentation, Six Sigma variation reduction, uptime improvements, and maintenance expense reduction.

Under minimal supervision, responsible for the continuous improvement of plant processes and equipment including design and PLC program changes, mechanical and electrical documentation, Six Sigma variation reduction, uptime improvements, and maintenance expense reduction.

How you will do it
  • Efficiently use problem solving techniques including Pareto analysis, cause and effect analysis, multi-variable analysis, FMEA's and DOE's to reach solutions.
  • Initiate and lead plant teams in the development of process improvements.
  • Provide technical support for plant operations including maintenance support, capital project implementation, and Six Sigma project rollout support.
  • Act as liaison between plant and division engineering personnel in communicating engineering needs process changes, project reporting, etc.
  • Monitor process, including new equipment and tools, to ensure performance to specifications. Implement capital and non-capital projects.
  • Work with plant quality control and manufacturing personnel to ensure process and equipment is capable of producing product that meets quality and engineering standards.
  • Review new and modified specifications for proper content and schedules their introduction into the manufacturing system.
  • Identify causes and develops strategies for eliminating re-occurring downtime.
What we look for
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Manufacturing preferred.)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment. (Internship experience in Industry preferred but not required)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with PLC programming and ladder logic.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Solidworks, Excel, Power-point, and other related programs.
Preferred
  • Experience in Robotics programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostics highly preferred. (Fanuc / Denso preferred)
