Job summary

Zobele Group in Garland, Texas is seeking a Controls Engineer for Industrial Automation to manage high-speed production lines, focus on automation, PLC and HMI programming, and troubleshooting. You will lead troubleshooting on four lines, guide junior technicians and contribute to control-system design and project deliverables.

The role involves on-site startup, commissioning, FAT/SAT planning, and collaboration with process and project teams to meet performance targets and delivery milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent automation experience.
• 5+ years of experience with Industrial Automation.
• OSHA certification.
• Proficiency with PLC/HMI programming.
• Strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot PLC program and HMI on 4 lines and implement improvements.
• Provide instruction to less experienced technicians.
• Assist in design of control systems (I/O and P&ID, etc.).
• Create functional requirement specs with FAT/SAT plans.
• Perform on-site startup, commissioning, validation and support.
• Manage project resources, schedule, budget and scope.
• Input and resolve issues during Estimating and Fabrication.
• Develop approaches to solve problems and address customer demands.
• Contribute broad technical competence and strong communication.
• Manage and develop project deliverables.

CONTROLS ENGINEER - INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION

Reporting to the plant Preventive Maintenance Superintendent, our Controls Engineer manages high speed making and packaging lines with a focus on automation; PLC and HMI Programming and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot current process PLC program and HMI on 4 existing lines; collaborate with other Controls Engineers and Process Engineers to accomplish improvements to the existing lines
• Provide instruction and guidance to less experienced technical employees
• Assist in the design of control systems (I/O and Motor Lists, P&ID's etc.)
• Create functional requirements specification documents with the corresponding FAT and SAT plans
• Perform on-site startup, commissioning, validate and support
• Identify changes in scope and notify Project/Engineering Manager in a timely manner
• Develop approaches to solve problems, handle customer demands, changes and complaints
• Contribute a broad technical competence to the team, along with superior communication, correspondence, and mediation skills
• Assist in managing project's resources, schedule, budget and scope
• Provides input and resolves issues during the Estimating and Fabrication processes
• Manage and develop project deliverables independently or within a team.
