Manufacturing Engineer Electrical / Electronic
Job Summary:
Our client in Dearborn, MI is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Electrical / Electronic systems. This is a contract position.
What You Will Do:
- Provide direction for controls equipment locations considering safety, maintenance, and production during tool installation and launch phases.
- Assist in defining Factory Information System (FIS) assets at the PLC level.
- Coordinate between tooling suppliers and plant floor systems suppliers for FIS, ILVS, IBSS, etc.
- Support integration of plant facility equipment such as energy supplies and operator lift tables.
- Ensure all safety standards are adhered to.
- Perform debugging and tool buy-off controls functions, including fault diagnostics, manual screen functions, robot control screens, and panel view functions.
- Validate controls task updates during implementation.
- Support plant efforts to resolve controls issues and concerns.
- Provide feedback and lessons learned to the controls standard group.
- Ensure consistency across ross commodity tooling.
- Mentor tooling suppliers to ensure safe, reliable, and maintainable tooling.
- Verify adherence to common programming practices.
- Support controls design/build checklists for each tool prior to buy-offs.
- Conduct PLC/robot safety risk assessments and sign EL10 documents.
- Review, track, and resolve controls issues during launch phases.
- Assist in developing robust prove-out and test plans for new interfaces.
- Coordinate controls open-issue meetings during launch phases.
- Support FIS and throughput meetings and resolve related issues.
Basics:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with robots, preferably Kawasaki and Fanuc.
- In-depth knowledge of Ford controls architectures.
- Experience with launching new controls, processes, and facilities.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 70%.
- Availability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong communication, leadership, and computer skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Rockwell Software Suite.
- Networking experience with Ethernet, Device Net, Profinet, Profibus, especially Ethernet/IP.
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
- Controls engineering experience in Body Construction department.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience.
