Job summary

Liberty Personnel Services, Inc. is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to advance our client’s packaging and manufacturing automation. You will apply PLC programming expertise, test protocol development, and project coordination to deliver robust, safe control systems.

This full-time role requires 50–75% travel to client sites. You’ll work with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs, SCADA (FactoryTalk View SE), HMIs, sensors, and servo drives, interfacing with engineers and operators.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in automated equipment with electrical engineering or programming background.
• Ability to draft test protocols and change controls with precision.
• Strong SDLC understanding and documentation practices.
• Excellent communication to interface with clients and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Operate, test, and commission packaging automation systems.
• Interface with clients and internal teams; manage projects of varying size.

Key Qualifications

• Proficient in editing machine codes, including Rockwell ControlLogix and Siemens PLC.
• Strong software parameter testing and adjustment skills.
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and associated documentation.
• Ability to draft test protocols and automation change controls with precision.
• Advanced problem-solving abilities with Sigma methodology expertise.
• Excellent communication skills to interface effectively with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
• Capable of managing small to large-scale projects independently.
• Proficient in downloading and working with PLC, HMI, and drive programs.
• Significant expertise in industrial controls devices like sensors, switches, and servo drives.
• Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs and SCADA systems such as Factory Talk View SE.

Additional Information

This full-time position requires high flexibility, including traveling 50-75% per year to client sites. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience with automated equipment and a preferred background in Electrical Engineering or Computer Programming.
