Job summary

Sila Nanotechnologies in Moses Lake, WA is seeking a seasoned Controls and Electrical Engineer to maintain, deploy, and improve machine control code, instrumentation, and electrical subsystems across our production units.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance electrical power and communication systems, contribute to software libraries, and translate user feedback into practical improvements, all while supporting 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering or related field.
• 5–7 years direct or related field experience.
• Experience deploying code on systems interacting with the physical world.
• Proficiency in Structured Text and IEC 61131-3; Siemens environment preferred.
• Knowledge of industrial fieldbus protocols: EtherCAT, Profinet, EthernetIP, Modbus.
• Strong understanding of field-deployed electronics, sensors, and motion components.
• Experience with industrial electrical design: wiring diagrams, networks, panel design, NEC/70E.
• Hazardous area knowledge: Class I/II; Div 1/2; intrinsically safe wiring.
• Ability to integrate machines with SCADA/MES/ERP (Ignition, etc.).
• Good document control practices across lifecycle tooling.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, improve and deploy new machine control code, instrumentation, and electrical subsystems for production units.
• Collaborate with teams to design and improve electrical power and communication systems across the facility.
• Contribute to and improve internally-developed software libraries used company-wide.
• Gather end-user feedback and distill into actionable modifications.
• Support 24-hour operation in a running chemical plant.
