Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Controls Design Engineer to design and develop advanced control and monitoring solutions for power transformers. You will work with engineering, software, and project management teams to deliver robust solutions that improve performance, efficiency, and safety.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s in electrical engineering and 3+ years in controls or panel design, with AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of controls or panel design experience in industry.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine detailed control system designs for power transformers.
  • Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using CAD tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software.
  • Execute commissioning activities, including startup, calibration, and tuning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with existing control equipment.
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure quality, compliance, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Develop and refine detailed control system designs for power transformers.

Your background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in controls or panel design within an industrial environment.
  • Proficiency with electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
  • Solid understanding of electrical schematics, PID control, and motor control.
  • Familiarity with IEEE, UL508, and NFPA 70 standards.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP).
