Job summary

You will collaborate with Systems Engineers and other teams to define requirements and implement robust algorithms for vehicle systems, including software architecture, testing, and validation.

Qualifications

  • BS degree required in electrical, mechanical, computer engineering, computer science or related field.
  • Two years of experience in the job offered or related engineering position.
  • Two years of experience with embedded controls or controls software development; Simulink, MATLAB; and controls software development in C.

Responsibilities

  • Create new control strategies, diagnostics, and communication methods for GM portfolio.
  • Develop controls and diagnostics using common methods for VMEC features and support growth of emerging tech.
  • Develop algorithms for various vehicle features and systems; research and develop novel solutions across domains.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineers to define vehicle, sub-system, and behavioral requirements; define tests from requirements.

Job Description

Job Description DUTIES: Create new control strategies, diagnostics, and communication methods to support all applications in the General Motors Portfolio. Develop controls and diagnostics using appropriate, common methods for VMEC features and support the growth capabilities to keep us at the forefront of emerging technology. Develop algorithms for various vehicle features and systems. Research and develop novel solutions to various controls problems that cover multiple domains including chemical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal. Continually push technology to lead and define the new state of art for control and system simulation. Collaborate with Systems Engineers to define vehicle, sub-system, and behavioral requirements. Develop robust algorithms for vehicle systems from a clean sheet, including software architecture, implementation, integration, and test. Collaborate with other teams to define and integrate components, check functionality on the bench and on the vehicle. Define software unit tests, HIL, and vehicle tests from customer expectations and system requirements.

Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office. 10% travel international and domestically.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree.
  • Two years of experience in the job offered or related engineering position.
  • Two (2) years of experience with: embedded controls or controls software development; Simulink, MATLAB; and controls software development in C programming.
  • Must also have one year of experience with: plant modeling and/or analysis tools; and system Modeling and Simulation including Software, Hardware, Model in-the-loop.
