Job summary

Hargrove seeks an engineering intern in Houston to support chemical, electrical, or computer engineering projects by assisting with automation and controls design and by developing preliminary designs as opportunities arise. The role is performed under direct supervision with a close team.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a relevant degree, maintain a 2.7+ GPA, and demonstrate strong time management, organization, and communication skills while learning and applying design standards.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master program of Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering at an accredited university.
  • GPA of 2.7 or higher is required.
  • Willingness to learn and apply automation engineering design standards.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assignments on schedule.
  • Learn and utilize automation engineering design standards.
  • Assist in problem solving to determine simple, efficient approaches.
  • Assist in producing estimate level preliminary designs.
  • Assist in producing detailed design calculations, spreadsheets, reports, drawings, and sketches.
  • Assist engineers in resolving routine layout and detailing problems.

Job description

What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Generally responsible for performing increasingly complex engineering assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. Assignments may be extremely varied and diverse in nature and may include assisting with automation and controls engineering and DCS, PLC, and HMI systems development, depending on project availability. Opportunities may be available for on-site support. This work will be performed under direct supervision and in a close group of teammates.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to complete assignments on schedule.
  • Ability to learn and utilize automation engineering design standards.
  • Assisting in problem solving to determine the most simple, efficient approach to solving engineering tasks.
  • Assisting in producing estimate level preliminary designs.
  • Assisting in producing detail design calculations, spreadsheets, reports, drawings, and sketches for various projects.
  • Assisting engineers and specialists in resolving routine layout and detailing problems.
Ideal Background

Education: Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master program of Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering program at an accredited university is required. GPA: 2.7 or above
