Job summary

National Bulk Equipment, Inc. in Holland, Michigan, seeks a Controls & Automation Engineer to design and implement electrical schematics, HMI and PLC programs for bulk material handling equipment built by NBE. The role collaborates with Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, and Sales to deliver turnkey solutions.

You will lead FATs, prepare wiring diagrams and I/O lists, ensure safety standards and NEC/NFPA code compliance, and provide on-site and remote diagnostics and support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of programming experience required.
• Experience in Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLC programming required.
• Understanding of AC/DC electrical systems required.
• Understanding of NEC and NFPA codes required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop HMI and PLC programming for NBE equipment, including turnkey solutions that integrate with customer systems.
• Prepare wiring diagrams, single line diagrams, conduit schedules, harness lists, instrument lists, and other required documents per customer specifications.
• Ensure all project deliverables meet or exceed client specifications and/or NBE standards.
• Ensure control systems are designed in compliance with safety standards and participate in risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
• Act as the controls lead for Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) onsite with or without customers present.
• Provide diagnostic and troubleshooting support for control system issues, both on-site and remotely.
