Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction, Engineering Technology, or equivalent/related experience.
  • Experience in HVAC industry preferred; related project management or estimating experience.
  • Familiarity with Windows OS and Microsoft Office; CAD skills a plus; basic electrical drawings knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Design of comfort control and automation systems.
  • Review contract documents and mechanical plans for automation system design.
  • Conduct on-site surveys to determine controls solutions.
  • Create installation drawings, submittal drawings, sequences of operations.
  • Transition documents to the field and potential programming.
  • Produce as-built drawings and O&M manuals; assist transition to service.
  • Ensure project requirements and stay within budget.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction through issue resolution and communication.

Job Summary

Trane in Tempe, AZ is hiring for a Controls Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for hardware and software design activities for small building automation systems. Applies engineering principles and practices for work on assigned projects. Designs cost effective control solutions to meet project requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for design of comfort control and automation systems.
  • Responsible for obtaining and reviewing contract documents; mechanical plans, specifications, estimates, equipment submittals, etc. for incorporation into the design of an automation system.
  • Be able to conduct on-site project surveys within the district if need to determine controls solutions.
  • Responsible for creating installation drawings, submittal drawings, sequences of operations for the efficient installation of the project.
  • Responsible for transitioning these documents to the field.
  • May have programing responsibilities.
  • Responsible for the follow-up of creating as-built drawings, operation & maintenance manuals, and assisting with the transition of these to the service department.
  • Responsible for the production of all of the above which meets the project requirements and staying within the project estimate.
  • Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, communication with staff, providing customer feedback and solutions.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction, Engineering Technology, or equivalent/related experience
  • Preferred experience in the HVAC industry such as Technician, project management, or estimating; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Windows operating system and Microsoft Office product knowledge.
  • Familiarity with the operation and design of HVAC Systems, Building Automation Systems, and/or Temperature Controls preferred.
  • Experience with CAD program a plus, as well as basic understanding of electrical drawings and schematics preferred.
  • Must have the ability to work as part of a team and must be able to work in a structured environment and maintain well organized records.
  • Some travel to construction sites within the district to determine controls solutions.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required.

$72,928.33 - $101,570.00
