Their team takes pride in doing business the right way — and they’re looking for a driven, hands-on Controller to help lead their financial operations and support future growth.

About the Opportunity

Collaborative Strategies is partnering with Y-Yard Auto and Truck in its search for its next Controller . This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, family-owned business with deep roots and a fast-paced, collaborative culture. As a critical financial leader within the organization, the Controller will manage all day-to-day accounting operations while overseeing high-volume accounts receivable (A/R) and accounts payable (A/P) processes. This is a high-impact position that not only ensures the integrity of financial reporting but also provides operational insights guiding decision-making across the company. This leader will supervise AP/AR staff, manage fiscal budgets, handle tax filings, and support select administration duties in a close-knit, high-volume environment.

Reporting to the President, the Controller will be responsible for:

Financial Reporting & Oversight

  • Prepare financial statements, forecasting reports, and fiscal budgets
  • Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies
  • Lead all month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and adjustments
  • Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks and Excel, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations

Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable Leadership

  • Oversee high-volume A/P and A/R transactions, including vendor payments, purchase orders, and collections
  • Approve and audit payables, validate PO reports, and track pending vendor credits
  • Manage past-due collections, disputes, and financial reconciliations

Payroll, Tax, and Compliance Management

  • Process bi-weekly payroll and manage related tax liabilities (FUTA, SUTA, property, and income taxes)
  • Oversee employee benefits administration, vacation tracking, and new hire setup
  • Conduct internal audits and maintain internal controls for financial integrity

Team Supervision & Operational Support

  • Supervise accounting staff and support training and development
  • Partner with ownership and department leaders on financial planning and budget reviews
  • Assist with office management and administration, and overflow phone support

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including oversight of high-volume A/R and A/P
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and QuickBooks
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate at all levels of the business
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

  • CPA designation (preferred, not required)
  • Experience in automotive, salvage, or high-volume transaction-based industries
  • Prior supervisory experience
