Job summary

Simply.TV is seeking a hands-on U.S. Controller to own the U.S. finance operations, close the monthly books, manage payroll and 401(k), and ensure audit-ready records. You will collaborate with the CFO on global finance, support intercompany transactions, and drive process improvements as the company scales.

This remote, U.S.-based role offers autonomy, direct access to the CFO, and opportunities to enhance financial controls and efficiency while partnering with teams across regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting, including hands-on month-end close ownership.
• Experience with U.S. payroll and 401(k) plan administration.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, AP, AR and reconciliations.
• Hands-on with QuickBooks or similar system; multi-entity experience is a plus.
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus; able to handle confidential info.

Responsibilities

• Own U.S. month-end close from start to finish, including accruals and journal entries.
• Prepare monthly U.S. financial statements for CFO; maintain close calendar.
• Keep audit-ready documentation and coordinate audit requests.
• Oversee U.S. payroll processing, 401(k) contributions and benefits deductions.
• Reconcile payroll to GL and coordinate with People team; ensure tax filings.
• Manage Accounts Payable and Receivable; oversee vendor/payee payments and AR collections.
• Support group reporting, intercompany reconciliations, and global finance coordination.
• Identify process improvements and opportunities to automate finance tasks.

The Role

We're looking for a hands‑on U.S. Controller to own our U.S. finance operations and partner with our CFO on global finance. You'll run the monthly close, own U.S. payroll and our 401(k) plan, keep AP and AR moving, and make sure our numbers are accurate, on time, and audit-ready.

This is a step‑up role for an accountant who is ready to own a function, not just support one. You'll have real autonomy, a direct line to the CFO, and room to build better processes as we grow. Requirements

What you will drive and own:

• Month-End Close and Financial Reporting
• Own the U.S. month-end close from start to finish, including accruals, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare monthly U.S. financial statements and reporting for the CFO
• Maintain the close calendar and make sure deadlines are met
• Keep organized, audit‑ready documentation and serve as the main point of contact for audit requests
• Maintain strong internal controls and make sure processes follow company policies and regulatory requirements
• Payroll and 401(k)
• Own U.S. payroll processing, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, bonuses, and benefit deductions, in partnership with the People team
• Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies
• Administer the company's 401(k) plan, including contribution funding, reconciliations, and coordination with the plan provider and auditors
• Make sure payroll tax filings and compliance requirements are met on time
• Accounts Payable and Receivable
  • Oversee customer invoicing in QuickBooks, payment application, and AR collections
  • Oversee vendor, contractor, and freelancer payments, making sure approvals and controls are followed
  • Review employee expense reports for policy compliance and proper documentation
  • Maintain accurate vendor and customer records
  • Global Finance Support
    • Partner with the CFO and Copenhagen finance team on group reporting and consolidation
    • Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations between the U.S. and other Simply.TV entities
    • Coordinate payroll inputs and reconciliations with external payroll providers in other countries as needed
    • Support budgeting, forecasting, and ad‑hoc analysis for leadership
    • Process Improvement
      • Find and fix gaps in finance processes, controls, and systems
      • Look for opportunities to automate manual work
      • Collaborate closely with the People team and operational teams across regions

Qualifications

You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including hands‑on ownership of the month‑end close
• Experience running U.S. payroll and working with 401(k) plan administration
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, AP, AR, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks or a similar accounting system
• Experience with multi‑entity or international accounting is a strong plus
• CPA, or progress toward a CPA, is a plus
• Comfort working with confidential and sensitive information
• A proactive, eager‑to‑learn, and growth‑minded approach, with the drive to build and improve how finance works
• Excellent written and spoken English. Danish or Spanish is a plus
