About Us:

We are a dynamic, growing e-commerce/retail/manufacturer with an annual revenue between $5 to $10 million. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Controller to join our team. The Controller will play a critical role in managing all financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making.

Position Overview:

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company's financial health, working directly with the CEO to maintain accurate financial records, optimize cash flow, and ensure regulatory compliance. This is a highly visible role that requires a detail-oriented, proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Inventory Management: Manage and oversee inventory accounting, including cost of goods sold (COGS), valuation, and reconciliation of inventory balances.
• Cost Accounting: Develop and maintain cost models for products and services, analyze cost structures, and provide insights into profitability and pricing strategies.
• Sales Orders & Revenue Recognition: Oversee the sales order process, ensure accurate revenue recognition in line with accounting standards, and manage AR (Accounts Receivable) aging.
• Cash Flow Management: Monitor and forecast cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity for day-to-day operations and strategic investments.
• E-commerce and Retail Operations: Coordinate closely with the e-commerce and retail teams to track revenue, expenses, and profitability. Ensure that financial data related to online sales and physical retail is accurately captured and reported.
• Budgets and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, providing the CEO with regular financial insights and projections.
• Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and relevant laws. Manage internal controls and audit processes.
• Process Improvement: Identify areas for operational efficiency and process improvements, driving automation and streamlining workflows in the accounting and finance functions.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, and marketing, to provide financial insights that support business decisions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in accounting/finance roles, with at least 2 years in a similar position.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Experience in inventory management and cost accounting, preferably within the e-commerce or retail industry.
• Hands-on experience with financial systems and ERP software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.).
• Strong proficiency with Excel and other financial modeling tools.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• A proactive problem-solver with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
