Job summary

ALCO Designs in Gardena, CA seeks a detail-oriented Controller to oversee all financial operations for our manufacturing firm. The role combines hands-on accounting with strategic financial planning, including monthly closing, cost accounting, inventory valuation, and margin analysis.

You will partner with operations to improve process efficiencies, manage budgeting and forecasting, ensure GAAP compliance, and prepare timely financial reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required; CPA/CMA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years progressive accounting experience in manufacturing.
• Strong GAAP knowledge, cost accounting, and inventory control.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, collections, and banking.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage month-end and year-end closings.
• Maintain cost accounting records, inventory valuation, COGS, and margins.
• Monitor cash flow and prepare cash forecasts.
• Analyze budgets and forecasts; provide financial insights to leadership.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and coordinate with external CPA for filings and audits.
• Support operations with cost analysis and process improvements.
• Lead and develop accounting staff and communicate financial performance to management.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategicControllerto oversee all financial operations for our growing manufacturing company. This position plays a key role in managing accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is hands-on, able to work independently, and comfortable supporting both high-level financial strategy and day-to-day accounting tasks in a small business environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, and banking.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain accurate cost accounting records, including inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and margin analysis.
• Monitor cash flow and prepare cash forecasts.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Develop and manage annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Analyze financial results to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or efficiency improvements.
• Provide financial insight to support business planning and decision-making.

Compliance & Controls

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable tax, labor, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with external CPA firm for tax filings, audits, and year-end reporting.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.

Operations Support

• Partner with production and operations teams to analyze manufacturing costs, inventory levels, and process efficiencies.
• Support purchasing, pricing, and cost analysis decisions.
• Implement and improve financial systems and reporting tools.

Leadership

• Supervise and develop accounting staff.
• Collaborate with company leadership to align financial goals with operational objectives.
• Provide clear and timely communication of financial performance and recommendations to management.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Financerequired(CPA or CMA preferred).
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing industry experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory control.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting ERP systems; advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a small-company environment and manage multiple priorities.

Yearly salary: $90,000-$110,000
