Job Title: Controller

Location: Fully Remote (U.S.-based) – EST Hours

Compensation: $150,000 – $200,000 total compensation

We’re seeking a strategic and detail-driven Controller to lead accounting operations and support financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency for our client. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, the Controller will play a critical role in driving scalability and audit readiness, with an immediate focus on optimizing our client’s NetSuite Chart of Accounts (COA).

Overview Of The Controller Role

• The Controller will oversee the preparation of timely, accurate financial statements and disclosures in accordance with US GAAP and applicable statutory requirements.
• Lead the cleanup, optimization, and long-term structure of our client’s NetSuite Chart of Accounts.
• The Controller will provide technical accounting guidance for complex transactions including reinsurance agreements, investment instruments, and revenue recognition.
• The Controller will collaborate closely with external auditors and regulatory agencies, preparing required documentation and responses.
• Support the implementation and documentation of SOX/internal controls over financial reporting.
• Partner with actuarial, finance, legal, and compliance teams to ensure alignment of accounting policies across departments.
• The Controller will also be responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance accuracy, automation, and scalability.
  
  

Qualifications Of The Controller

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or Master’s preferred)
• 5+ years in public accounting or corporate accounting, ideally within warranty, insurance, or financial services
• Strong experience with NetSuite, including COA design/cleanup and integrations with systems like Ramp or payment processors
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Exceptional analytical, communication, and organizational skills
• Advanced Excel proficiency
