We’re looking for a sharp, detail-loving, fun-to-work-with Controller to join our team at Portland Internetworks. If you love clean books, strong reporting, efficient processes, and the occasional ping pong break, keep reading.

Our current Controller is retiring, and we’re excited to find someone ready to step into this important role and help us keep growing. What’s the Role? This position is responsible for leading the finance and accounting function for a fast-paced, 35+ person managed IT services company. You’ll manage an accounting assistant and our office manager, work closely with our COO/CFO, and ensure our internal financial systems and reporting are rock solid. The Controller also oversees core HR administration, supports light internal operations, and manages our business insurance policies. This role is part of our management team and, depending on your background and experience, may be invited to join the leadership team as well.

What You'll Be Doing

• Own the monthly close process and preparation of financial reports
• Manage cash flow and treasury operations
• Oversee A/R, A/P, payroll coordination, and financial reporting
• Partner with external CPAs for annual tax filings
• Lead our business insurance relationships (liability, workers comp, E&O, etc.)
• Work with department leads on budgeting, reporting, and analysis
• Support internal office operations (lightly)
• Help maintain clarity, accuracy, and momentum across all financial systems

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years in accounting roles, preferably in small or mid-sized businesses
• Expertise in QuickBooks Enterprise
• Advanced Excel skills
• Clear, confident communication
• Experience managing people or small teams
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment

Nice-to-Haves

• CPA (active or inactive)
• Experience in a Managed IT Services, MSP, or B2B tech services firm
• Familiarity with HR practices and tools
• A great sense of humor (yes, even for accounting roles)
