Responsibilities

Hudson Yards Experiences – operates and manages the Edge -- the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere, City Climb -- the highest open-air building ascent in the world and Vesel -- an iconic New York City experience, providing remarkable views of the city, the Hudson River and beyond.

The Hudson Yards Experiences Controller will be responsible for all accounting activities associated with the Observation Deck, Climb and Vessel inclusive of food & beverage, retail, ticketing and events. In addition, the Controller will be responsible for oversight of the general accounting function, internal management reporting, and audits. The Accounting Controller will review on a monthly basis the work of their staff to ensure proper accounting for business activities, transactions, and financial reporting. The Accounting Controller will also interface with internal associates such as the business general manager, operations director, information technology, sales, marketing, treasury and finance. This position involves collaboration with senior leaders to produce a variety of high quality reports that are used in consolidated reporting, analysis and cash forecasting. The ideal candidate is a highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated person who thrives in a dynamic work environment and demonstrates a flexible and adaptable work style. The Controller will report to the Head of Finance HYE.

  • Supervise and guide the activities of a team, while providing leadership, motivation and support to drive superior performance
  • Review monthly work papers and financial reporting and provide proper accounting guidance over experiences that involve ticket revenue reconciliations and recognition, retail inventory, F&B and managing third party retail contracts
  • Review balance sheet and income statement variance analysis versus prior month, prior year and budget
  • Assist the operational executive team with the selection and implementation of systems key to reporting results at the business and financial reporting level
  • Assist commercial accounting with the consolidation of these experiences financial results
  • Evaluate financial and operational activities and make recommendations to improve efficiency and internal control
  • Collaborate with business teams and senior management on operational reporting metrics

Compensation:

  • $155,000 - $175,000 / year
  • Annual performance based bonus

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting , CPA preferred
  • Must have 8+ years of accounting experience ideally focused on a combination of events, retail and ticketed events
  • Superior organizational skills, must be detail oriented and have the ability to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines
  • A professional with excellent judgment, interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to evaluate data and present solutions to solve business issues
  • Clear communicator with ability to interact and present to senior leaders
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards, Hubble, Ventrata ticketing a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
