Job summary

ProspectBlue is seeking a Controller in the Richmond, VA area to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, drive monthly and year-end closes, and ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting. Qualifications

• CPA required.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience preferred.
• Automotive retail accounting experience strongly preferred (familiarity with DMS systems a plus)

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes
• Ensure compliance with industry accounting standards and manufacturer reporting requirements
• Develop and monitor internal controls
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff
• Manage relationships with external auditors, tax preparers, and financial institutions
• Analyze departmental profitability and provide actionable insights to management
